Mary's Shrine Entrance

BACKGROUND:
Back in February of 2004 I acquired the bottle listed below. I certainly thought this bottle was something extraordinary and without a doubt unique but then two years later along comes this bottle which I received on February 23, 2006, two years and a day from the one below! This is another unique interpretation of Jeannie’s bottle as only Mary could do.

IN THE ARTIST’S OWN WORDS:
The mosaic design on the Jeannie bottle was used to enhance its own unique silhouette. However, in this case, it was also important to me to use the richest materials that I had available.

Most of the glass used on the bottle was hand painted or hand foiled, or sometimes both. In fact, much of it was experimental glass that I have had for months but had been unable to find the perfect application for.

Even the collar ring has beads especially chosen to fit this design and were then hand painted to match. I feel that no matter what was used to mosaic this bottle, it would be almost impossible to detract from the elegant form of the bottle itself. Vincent, I think you'd agree!

Again, I am so pleased by your interest in this bottle and am honored to have it join your collection. In addition, I'm looking forward to seeing your review. So much of art, especially this form, you really can't get a feel for it until its in your own hands.

Thanks Again!
Mary

ORIGINAL REVIEW BACKGROUND:
A unique and very original take on Jeannie’s bottle if ever I did see one. I was absolutely thrilled to have come across Mary’s interpretation of Jeannie’s bottle. Not that I am tired in the least with traditionally painted bottle replicas it is simply refreshing. You can see more of Mary and her partner Cher’s work at: http://www.moosaics.com perhaps she will make one of these bottles for you if you ask really nice.

BOTTLES:
Not your typical Jeannie bottle by any means. Through her mosaic craft Mary has created a bottle reminiscent of the swirling smoke that characterized Jeannie’s egress and return to her bottle as well as the blinking wide eyes of the opening credit animation. All in all a stunning piece of work.

PROS:
A refreshing contribution to the creative world of Jeannie’s bottle.

CONS:
Not that I can find except it isn’t a prop bottle... Refreshing!!

CUSTOM BOTTLE AWARD:
In recognition of Mary’s incredible contribution to my collection and to the world of I Dream of Jeannie bottle creations I am awarding her my custom bottle award. Although this award is not new it has been several years since any one has inspired me with their originality and ingenuity the way Mary has. Based on the first bottle I received from Mary I am certain that both bottle will last beyond my lifetime which as the collection ages you know is a very important thing to look for aside from the beauty of a work.

I hope people will take time to visit her website and see all the amazing things she and Cher create aside from Jeannie’s bottle.
