Roy's First Season

BOTTLES:
Like all of Roy’s bottle this one is unique! The bottle utilizes a raised gold paint with a matte finish. The paints were baked on the bottle over the period of several days to allow for a gradual heat up and cool down to prevent cracking of the Jim Beam bottle. The design work and the bottle is immaculate. The stems and leaves are a bit too thick and angular.

There is one glaring error in the bottle can you tell what it is? Yup the leaves circling the bottle in the opposite direction of the prop bottle. This bottle’s designs are a mirror reflection of what they should be.

In photographing this bottle I was struck by the beautiful sheen of the underlying bottle itself. I am not certain if Roy sealed this bottle or not but it is certainly not plagued with any of the cracking or yellowing seen in Roy’s second season bottles.

According to my last exchange with Roy he no longer uses sealant on his bottles since the paint he uses and the process of baking the paint onto the bottle creates a more permanent bond.

PROS:
Clean design work and a quality Jim Bottle with a distinctive paint to match a distinctive process.

CONS:
Angular designs slightly too thick in places with leaves arrange in the wrong, mirrored direction from the original prop bottle.
