BOTTLE: What a brilliant piece of work this bottle is. Let me start by saying that I really procrastinated in doing this review along with several others and I owe Shannon a major apology for that. For all those who have e-mailed me for the offline review I am glad I could help but even happier that this review is finally and justly up. Shannon’s bottle captures beautifully the rich details and darker coloration of Jeannie’s bottle. The design work is immaculate, clean, even and well proportioned. The colors are rich and form a harmonious whole. The metallic purple of her base coat is deep and shiny without being too shiny and unlike most artists she hand paints her base coat which gives the bottle a rich and dimensional texture. The white arches, again the way the bottle was meant to appear on screen are the perfect thickness being detailed without being too thick yet thin enough to convey the refinement that the arches evoke. Her choice of gold paint is rich without being brassy. Two notes concerning Shannon’s process, on this bottle she used a water slip for her filigree work around the base of the bottle. Now from reading elsewhere on the review site I don’t normally countenance something like that but in this case they work well. Despite her success with the wet slips Shannon no longer offers this as an option on her bottles. The second note and most important is that her bottle unlike so many others has withstood the test of time. I guess that is one good thing in being so slow to complete this review. Her bottle is as immaculate today as the day I received it. As with the other featured artists here you could not go wrong with this bottle. |
