BACKGROUND: I have two bottles and a kit from Sharkkee. He is most noted for having designed and created a cutaway Jeannie’s bottle with a fully furnished interior. Ed sells on eBay as *sharkkee click to see if he has anything listed on eBay. Eddie’s web site is located at hometown.aol.com/sharkkee/ I keep Sharkkee’s second season bottle in storage, wrapped in tissue paper and linen. The furnished bottle is displayed in a sealed glass display case and artificially lighted. BOTTLES: Ed uses the lighter color Mulberry base coat on his second season bottle and furnished bottle which is a close match to most of the prop images you see today. He advertised his bottle as hand painted but in reality he uses decals for the detail work. A lot of people will say that if you want the perfect bottle then decals are the way to go but frankly Jeannie’s bottle was hand painted and the decals simply do not replicate the quality or depth of a painted bottle. Additionally, the decals over time have begun to peel away, especially on his furnished bottle which is a resin replica of a Jim Beam. I think the combination of the adhesive interacting with the gloss sealant has resulted in a breakdown of the decal’s adhesive. I am also noticing some yellowing in the gloss. May 31, 2004 UPDATE: I have been back in touch with Ed concerning his bottles and, sadly, he is no longer producing the furnished half bottle. |
