As many of you know the amazing Jeannie Bottle Traveling case made its debut on the Jeannie Journal back in July of 2006 to a great deal of interest and sold on eBay for $600. I failed to succeed in that auction and I was very crestfallen after all who needs a Jeannie bottle traveling case more than me! Fortunately the interest generated in this wonderful traveling case by both the auction and the Jeannie Journal convinced the dynamic duo of brother and sister to produce another. Needless to say I was even more determined.

Thankfully I won the auction, an increasingly difficult thing since opening the Jeannie Journal. I checked almost daily to see if it had arrived and a week to the day there it was. It was almost more than I could do to keep from opening it in my car. Alright so I did open it right there in the car! Not only was it well packed it was in its own Jeannie bottle traveling case traveling bag hand sown of padded plastic securely enveloping it. One peel of the plastic and out it came!
Well this article is long overdue in that I have to tell everyone what an absolute treasure this is and one not to be missed by anyone with a bottle that might travel or to use as a backdrop to any fine bottle collection. First off I somehow thought the case was really big, much bigger than the bottle but it isn’t. The case looks tiny in my hands and matches the shape of the bottle with enough allowance for protection. There is a bit more allowance in the replica than in the original. The case itself is made of molded fiberglass much sturdier than the original and a pleasing brown beige color. The hinges and clasp are solid and old looking while the handle is soft and padded attached with more antique looking hardware. There is a noticeable seam around the bottle case so don’t go swimming off Waikiki with it!
Next I thought the bottle might be a bit loose in the case at least from the photos in the auction and on the Jeannie Journal but the fit is perfect, not too tight nor too loose. The interior is molded almost perfectly to the shape of the Jim Beam bottle and then covered in hand stitched velvet. The velvet used is red and heavy so it holds the shape and will not develop crush marks from keeping a bottle in it.
In the finale analysis this has got to be one of the most exciting additions to my Jeannie bottle collection in years. Thanks to the generosity of the dynamic siblings Barbara Eden has one and now I do to! Thank you both very much and hopefully we will see many more in the future.
