Journal: Remembering Matthew Ansara
Today we remember Matthew Ansara born August 29, 1965 the only child of Barbara Eden and Michael Ansara. Matthew passed away on June 25, 2001; he would have been 45 years old today. Around these bittersweet dates filled with a mixture of fond memories and lonesome sorrow our thoughts and prayers are with all of Matthew's family and friends especially Michael Ansara, Barbara Eden and Jon Eicholtz.

To all Hayden’s family and friends we extend our thoughts and prayers on this anniversary of Hayden’s passing.

October 23, 1910 - August 19, 1987
Larry Hagman and Barbara Eden gave a tremendous lift to their old "I Dream of Jeannie" costar Hayden Rorke as he lay dying of stomach cancer - by repeatedly visiting him in the hospital and boosting his spirits so much that his doctor let him go home!
"Seeing Larry and Barbara just sent my spirits soaring. It meant so much to me," 76-year old Rorke - who played psychiatrist Alfred Bellows on the show - told a pal.
And the pal added, "Hayden said he got strength to leave the hospital from seeing his old I Dream of Jeannie friends."

A very Happy Father's Day to all the dads and granddads especially those who are not home with their kids or whose kids are unable to visit them. So then what to wish for... a new barbecue or a wide screen TV, world peace or maybe a million dollars? How about a safe and happy holiday with blinks all around! Blink!

Journal: Celebrate IDOJ at Jeannie Day in Cocoa Beach!
Local Cocoa Beach author and historian Ray Osborne is organizing what he calls his second Jeannie Day. It is to be held at Durangoes(?) in Cocoa Beach, FL on Saturday, June 26, 2010 and he's planning on having a Jeannie look-a-like contest, a bottle give away and slide presentations of BE's visit to Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral in 1969 as well as a presentation about previous Jeannie Days.

Congratulations to all the Resident Djinn on this fourth anniversary of the opening of the Jeannie Journal. The true architects of the Jeannie Journal are each and every I Dream of Jeannie fan who has taken up residency, as of this writing 2040, and who visit each day to read the latest news, connect with friends, watch videos, share photos or just hang out in their virtual bottle. The Journal is not something any one person may lay claim to but rather the communal efforts of a cast of Djinn who have shared selflessly their love of I Dream of Jeannie and the outstanding cast & crew of I Dream of Jeannie, Barbara Eden, Larry Hagman, Bill Daily, Hayden Rorke, Emmaline Henry and Sidney Sheldon. The Jeannie Journal is constantly evolving through each of its editions, some reflecting the seasons, some the holidays while others events from I Dream of Jeannie. Through it all, it is the fans that make the Jeannie Journal all that it is by sharing the magic and love of I Dream of Jeannie.
When I secured the domain name jeanniejournal.com in 2002 I had only the vaguest ideas of creating an I Dream of Jeannie fan tribute with news at its core. For the girl who never had a birthday you are now working on your 2047th after today! To think Dr. Bellows kept delaying and delaying Major Nelson's discovery of the date, April 1, 64 BC. Thankfully our computers are even better today but we still keep a lookout for Dr. Bellows!

Journal: Bewitched To Air On TV Land March 1st - No News of Jeannie
It came to my attention today that TV Land will begin airing "Bewitched" starting next month, March 1. There is a "classic shows" listing on the TV Land website with "Bewitched" already listed on it but there is NO mention anywhere on the site of "I Dream of Jeannie." I implore the members of this site to form a petition to send to TV Land as well as going on their website to send emails and make phone calls to the programming department . Let's put Jeannie back where she belongs - on TV Land!
