Today we remember Matthew Ansara born August 29, 1965 the only child of Barbara Eden and Michael Ansara. Matthew passed away on June 25, 2001; he would have been 45 years old today. Around these bittersweet dates filled with a mixture of fond memories and lonesome sorrow our thoughts and prayers are with all of Matthew's family and friends especially Michael Ansara, Barbara Eden and Jon Eicholtz.

October 23, 1910 - August 19, 1987
Larry Hagman and Barbara Eden gave a tremendous lift to their old "I Dream of Jeannie" costar Hayden Rorke as he lay dying of stomach cancer - by repeatedly visiting him in the hospital and boosting his spirits so much that his doctor let him go home!
"Seeing Larry and Barbara just sent my spirits soaring. It meant so much to me," 76-year old Rorke - who played psychiatrist Alfred Bellows on the show - told a pal.
And the pal added, "Hayden said he got strength to leave the hospital from seeing his old I Dream of Jeannie friends."

Today we remember Vinton Hayworth on what would have been his 104th birthday. Vinton Hayworth played General Schaeffer on I Dream of Jeannie. Although Mr. Hayworth only appeared in three episodes of I Dream of Jeannie, playing both General Schaeffer and General Watson he made an indelible impression on so many fans. We miss you Mr. Hayworth and our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.
Today, January 30, 2010 marks the third anniversary of the passing of Sidney Sheldon. Not a time for tears or sorrows as we look back on a life grandly lived. Mr. Sheldon's family has asked that we celebrate his life and accomplishments more than we mourn his passing. Although it is difficult to believe that he is no longer with us, the great body of work he gave to the world remains as a fitting testament to a rich full life.
With laughter and joy we can celebrate the wit and humor that Mr. Sheldon brought to everything he undertook. For Jeannie Journal readers that focuses so much on I Dream of Jeannie and the wonderful characters he created. It is hard to characterize the vast work of a man such as Mr. Sheldon but if any attempt is made then it is to say that he featured strong and unique woman in uncommon situations. He resisted the pressures to be trite or to conform to common ideals and forged new frontiers and new insights for his characters.
Every thing he did and wrote was meant to captivate his audience, to quote Mr. Sheldon...

Barton MacLane
December 25, 1902 - January 1, 1969
Today we remember Barton MacLane on the 41st anniversary of his passing. Barton MacLane played General Peterson on I Dream of Jeannie. It is incredible to think of a man born on Christmas and departed on New Years and it seems so befitting to such an amazing actor and human being. We miss you Mr. MacLane and our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.
